Robert Craig Hudson's Obituary
Robert Craig Hudson passed away Wednesday morning, June 2, 2010 at his home in Milton, Delaware. He was surrounded by his wife, his children, their spouses, and his grandchildren. Craig was born March 20, 1952 and was the youngest of 3 children born to Joe and Faye Hudson.
Craig worked on the family farm and aerial spraying business in Milton, until graduating from Cape Henlopen High School in 1970. After graduating from Cape, Craig started at the University of Miami, and then graduated from the University of Delaware in 1975.
In 1978 with his father Joe, he purchased Rehoboth Bay Mobile Home Park which lead into a very successful real estate career.
Craig was a founding member of the Sussex County Land Trust, where he served as Chairman of the Board. Craig also sat on the Board of Directors for the Delaware Electric Co-Op, and was involved in a number of non profit groups. He was also a philanthropist to many local charitable organizations.
Craig enjoyed basketball, racquetball, tennis, skiing, and being outdoors.
In 2006 Craig was diagnosed with brain cancer, and given a bleak prognosis. For most people that would have been it, but Craig was a warrior. He courageously fought cancer for 4 and half years and beat the odds.
Craig is survived by Lizzy his devoted wife and companion of 24 years, his father Joe and his wife Chris, his sister Susie, his stepsister Janel, his son Christian his wife Julie and their two children Christian II, and Lydia; his son Jamin; his son Brandon his wife Ashley and their daughter Audrey; his nephew Joss his wife Diana their daughters Savannah and Kira, his nephew Abraxas, and his niece Jazz. He was preceded in death by his mother Faye, and his brother Jody.
Craig was a great husband, father, and friend to many people. His stories and his laugh were absolutely unforgettable and will be greatly missed. He was known and loved by many, and you could always count on Craig to offer a helping hand.
His family would like to thank everyone in the community for the great outpouring of support they have received.
Funeral services will be private. A viewing will be held on
Friday June 4, 2010 from 5 PM to 8 PM at the Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE.
