Robert E. Hillis' Obituary
Mr. Robert E. Hillis, age 72 of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away at home, after a long illness, on Thursday, January 5, 2006. Bob was born on April 10, 1933 in Wilmington and grew up in Richardson Park.
He served in the activated Delaware Air National Guard during the Korean conflict in 1951 and 1952. Bob was a nationally-known race car driver and travelled the country to participate in midget and sprint car races. He left the racing circuit in the mid-1960's to start a family, and was employed as a surveyor. Bob enjoyed his family, friends, pets, music and the beach.
Bob was preceded in death by relatives including his parents, Mahlon Hillis and Emily Walls Hillis. He is survived by relatives including his wife, Joyce, of Rehoboth; his son, Cliff and his wife Beth, of Phoenixville, PA; his son, Roger and his wife Cassie, of Rehoboth; and his sister, Doris Kee of Wilmington.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm on January 12, 2006 at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE.
