Robert H. Heims' Obituary
Robert H. Heims, age 66, of Lewes, DE, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2006, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. He was born April 1, 1940 in Newark, NJ, son of the late Henry and Adele (Dobrosky) Heims.
Mr. Heims had been employed as a Project Engineer for the Township of Old Bridge, NJ, prior to retiring to Lewes. After settling in, Bob pursued his interest in bird carving. He loved to share his passion of wood carving with any and all inquisitors; he developed many friends and admirers with his talent. Early each morning, he took leisurely strolls into town for coffee and to watch the sun rise, and he spent many summer afternoons on the beach. Bob was also passionate and proud of his 1965 Corvette -- he spent many hours lovingly laboring over it and tuning it. Bob was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Most people who met Bob would say he was "genuine and a friend." Those of us whom are his family would say we were fortunate to have been loved by him and to have had him in our lives. His family and friends will miss Bob.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Judith A. (Mallard) Heims; his son Eric J. Heims and his wife Jennifer of Avon, CT; his daughter, Kathleen A. Heims of Tampa, FL; one granddaughter, Angelina Garofalo of Tampa, FL; and his sister, Dorene Stavac and her husband Richard of Danbury, CT
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 28, 11 AM, at St. Jude The Apostle Catholic Church, just north of Delaware Rt. 1 at Five Points, Lewes, DE; Father Mark Connelly will be the Celebrant. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes, DE. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, P.O. Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202.
