Robert C. Hearn's Obituary
Robert "Bob" C. Hearn, age 80, of Lewes Delaware, passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, DE. He was born October 18, 1929 in Wilmington, DE.
Bob’s work career was spent at Hearn’s Restaurant, in the heart of old Brandywine Village, in Wilmington Delaware. Bob’s parents started the restaurant in 1931 and it was in business for 60 years. Many will remember Hearn’s for their hot sticky buns, award winning chicken and dumplings, home cooked meal specialties, and the post meal trips to the treasure chest.
Bob and his wife Lanelle retired to Lewes to a slower paced life of fishing, walks on the beach and trips to the boardwalk. Bob was an avid fisherman, wood carver, artist and active member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Lewes.
He is survived by his wife Lanelle (Sanders) Hearn; and four children and their spouses: Dale and Carrie, Bob and Vickie, Adair and Harold, Dave and Susan. He was blessed with nine grandchildren: Melissa, Casey, Laura, Jacob, Emily, Rachael, Matthew, Nicole, David and two great grandchildren; Ava and Gunnar. Also survived by his sister Irene Hambright.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 12:30 PM at Bethel United Methodist Church, 129 W. Fourth Street, Lewes, DE; friends may call at the church beginning at 12:00 noon. Burial will immediately follow at Bethel Methodist Cemetery. A celebration of Bob’s life will follow in the church fellowship hall. Arrangements by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes, DE.
