Robert Daniel Hauter's Obituary
Robert Daniel Hauter, age 64 of Milford, DE, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at Bayhealth Medical Center, in Milford. He was born on November 24, 1958, in Long Branch, NJ, son of Gyneth Mae Hauter and the late Robert George Hauter.
Robert grew up in the Wayside area of Ocean Township, NJ. As a child, he was often found playing outside in the neighborhood and surrounding woods, riding his bike, and building kit models. Robert’s interests and toys grew as he did, and he spent many happy hours on motorcycles, ATVs, and driving trucks. His mechanical talents were put to use not only maintaining his vehicles, but restoring older ones, as well.
Robert worked for LD Seely & Electronic Measurements while living in New Jersey, and at Cape Henlopen State Park, Sussex Pines Golf Club, and Miller Metal Fabrication after moving to Delaware.
Robert loved and cared for small animals, particularly birds, and he had an affinity for the rock music of the 1970s. He enjoyed socializing with neighbors, and they appreciated his dry sense of humor. Robert remembered details about every person he met, because he was sincerely interested in getting to know people. He was always willing to help those in need, and he often went out of his way to do so. Above all, Robert cherished time spent with those he loved most. He was a loving and devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend. Loved by many, he will be genuinely missed by all who had the good fortune to know him.
Robert is survived by his mother, Gyneth Hauter of Katy, TX; his sister, Lori ODowd and her husband Al of Katy, TX; his brother, Scott Hauter and his wife Cathy of Lovingston, VA; his former wife and good friend, Victoria Vanderheyden of Lewes, DE; and his nephew, nieces, and great-nephews and great-nieces.
Services will be private.
