Robert V. Hare's Obituary
Robert V. Hare, age 59, of Georgetown, DE, passed away suddenly on November 21, 2015 of complications from Parkinson’s disease.
Rob was born in Wilmington, DE, and graduated from Wilmington High School. After high school, he relocated to Sussex County and attended Delaware Technical and Community College, where he earned a science degree in Industrial Laboratory Technology. He worked for the L.D. Caulk Co. for 29 years and earned the title of Senior Product Development Scientist. An accomplished researcher and inventor, Rob developed numerous dental products for L.D. Caulk Company and is listed as the inventor and co-inventor on numerous patents. One of Rob’s proudest accomplishments was the invention of the Aquasil Ultra multi-viscosities elastomeric impression material system, which captured the number one market share in impression materials and still holds a major share to this day.
Also a talented artist, Rob inherited his passion for oil painting from his mother and started painting at the age of 12. He was awarded a painting scholarship to the Delaware Art Museum in 1973 and an art scholarship to the University of Delaware. While in college, he exhibited his oil paintings at Delaware Technical Community College. He put his painting on hiatus to pursue his career in science but continued to dabble in art over the years. When his Parkinson’s forced him to retire in 2006, he resumed his love of painting. Over the years, he was a member of the Rehoboth Art League, associated with the Mispillion Art League, and exhibited his work at a number of local galleries and events. When he could no longer steady a brush he turned to digital art. He produced numerous works of art in traditional and modern mediums and was extremely proud of the time he spent honing his craft with world-renowned artist Libby Berry on Whidbey Island in Washington State.
A man of many interests, Rob was a computer whiz, loved to make wine, and was famous for his hot sauce “HTH” - Hare’s Hotter Than Hell Sauce - a secret recipe that he has entrusted to his sister. Rob was also an active member of the Milford Elk’s lodge and served as a past Exalted Ruler.
Rob was predeceased by his mother, Alice Weldin Hare and his father, Francis Hare, Jr., and his two brothers, Francis “Butch” and Allen. Rob will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 5 years, Jesselyn, who loved him and cared for him with true devotion; his beautiful and smart daughter, Jezzelle of whom he was extremely proud; his sister, Beverly DeVincentis, of Clayton, DE; his sister, Allison Reardon and her husband Dennis of Lewes, DE; his aunt and uncle, Ann and James Lewis of Newark, DE; and many nieces, nephew and cousins. Rob also leaves behind his wife’s family in the Philippines who welcomed him into their lives as a member of their family even before he and Jesse married.
Memorial Services will be held on Monday, November 30, 2015, at 11:00 AM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE 19958, where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow services at St. Peter's Cemetery, Pilottown Road, Lewes, DE.
