Robert D. Maedler, age 78, of Lewes, DE passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington, DE. He was born on March 22, 1937 in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late Robert H. and Jennie W. Maedler.
Bob was a 1954 graduate of Lewes High School, Lewes, DE. He had proudly served in the U.S. Navy. Bob's lifelong career was with the Plumber and Pipefitters Union Local 782 in Seaford, DE and later retired from their Union Local 420 in Philadelphia, PA from which he retired as an Instrument Technician.
Bob was a member of the American Legion Post #17 where he served as a Financial Advisor for five years and as President of the Holding Company where he served for 12 years.
Bunker Bob was an avid fisherman and outdoors man. He enjoyed spending many hours on the Delaware waters and loved being with his grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Susan H. Maedler of Lewes, DE; a son, Sean H. Maedler and his wife Janie of Dewey Beach, DE; and three grandchildren: Gavin, Rylie and Korban Maedler.
A Celebration of Bob's Life will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at 11:00 AM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE 19958, where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private.
The family requests flowers to be omitted and memorial contributions may be made in Bob's memory to the Rylie's Smile Foundation, 20963 Ann Avenue, Dewey Beach, DE 19971 (ryliessmilefoundation.org) or American Legion Post #17, 113 American Legion Road, Lewes, DE 19958.
