Robert Aller's Obituary
Robert O. Aller, Beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather, age 76, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, died on Wednesday May 17, 2006 at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes, DE. Mr. Aller was born on March 26, 1930 in Dayton, OH, son of the late Olen A. Aller and Carolyn R. (Lewis) Aller. He was a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD in l953 and was commissioned into the U.S. Air Force. He served in the Air Force for 10 years; as a naviagator on B-57 aircraft; as a graduate student at the University of Michigan; and at the Satellite Test Center in Sunnydale, CA. After discharge from the Air Force, Mr. Aller worked for NASA in Washington, D.C. on the Mammed Space Flight programs, and ended his 29-year career with them as a Deputy Administrator for the TDDRS program. Mr. Aller and his wife lived in Bethesda, MD for 29 years before relocating to Rehoboth Beach 13 years ago. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Rehoboth Beach.
Mr. Aller is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy (Rife) Aller; a son Robert C. Aller and wife Colleen of West Chester, PA; 2 daughters: Cynthia Aller Thornett and husband J. Frederick of Bethesda, MC and Carole Aller Brennan and husband Doughlas F. of Camp Hill, PA; a sister: Iva Lou Smith and husband James of Dayton, OH; and 9 grandchildren: Michele & Lyndsey Thornett, Christopher and Bridget Brennan; and Kelly, Erin, Kateland, Robert and Brian Aller.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday May 27, 2006 at 11:00AM at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 7 Bay Vista Road, Rehoboth Beach, with Pastor Donald Schaefer officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to: The Lutheran Church of Our Savior Building Fund, 7 Bay Vista Road, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
