Richard M. Steen's Obituary
Richard M. Steen, 78, of Lewes, Delaware, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2025. He was born on February 9, 1947, in Abington, Pennsylvania.
Richard graduated from Abington High School, where he excelled in track and field as part of their state championship and record-setting relay team. He went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Temple University. He spent most of his career as an executive for Keating Fibre, a role he took great pride in.
Richard is survived by his devoted wife, Susan J. Brucker Steen, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond over 60 beautiful years together; their children, Jeffrey Steen of Youngsville, NC, Jamie Steen (Kristine) of Erdenheim, PA, and Kimberly Lumadue (Mark) of Hatboro, PA; his grandchildren, Myranda Siegert of Horsham, PA, Bethany Steen of Youngsville, NC, Owen Steen of Erdenheim, PA, and Michael Steen of Youngsville, NC; and his sister, Elizabeth “Betsy” Steen of Quakertown, PA. He was predeceased by his parents, Marvin and Ruth (Frankenfield) Steen.
A lifelong fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies, Richard especially cherished the Eagles’ 2025 Super Bowl win — which fell on his birthday. He was also an avid track and field fan throughout his life. Richard loved gardening and had a deep appreciation for plants, tending to his garden with care and joy. He also enjoyed trips to the beach and traveling with Susan, particularly to the Caribbean.
Richard will be remembered for his kindness, loyalty, and deep love for his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth and generosity.
