Richard "Rich" P. Schoener's Obituary
Richard P. "Rich" Schoener, age 72, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, formerly of Lebanon, PA passed away at Christiana Healthcare, Newark, DE on Thursday, October 9, 2014. He was born on September 19, 1942 in Lebanon, PA, son of the late Paul and Bertha (Swathbottom) Schoener.
Rich was a 1960 graduate of Newmanstown High School in PA and served with the Army Reserve for two years. He embarked on a career as Produce Manager for Sure Fine Foods and Wise Foods. Rich would eventually begin another career with Kountry Kraft custom kitchen cabinets in Newmanstown until his retirement to the Rehoboth Beach area in 2003.
He enjoyed nurturing his flower gardens and the many smiles his beautiful works would bring to people's faces. When the holidays rolled around Rich was the King of decorating. He would spend hours creating just the right decor for each room of the house or that special present. Rich's other pastimes included fishing and spending time with his wife and friends "clubbing" at the local VFW or American Legion Post.
Rich was Past President of the Newmanstown Volunteer Fire Company Club; Life Member of 30+ years of dedicated service with Newmanstown Volunteer Fire Company; Life Member of the American Legion Post #880 in Richland, PA; Newmanstown Athletic Club; Womelsdorf Rod & Gun Club and the Myerstown VFW. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and friend to many.
Mr. Schoener is survived by his wife of 10 years, Ann "Gail" Schoener; 2 sons, Paul Kreiser of Milton, DE and James Kreiser of Rehoboth Beach, DE; 1 sister, Susan Manning of York, PA; 2 nieces Jenna and Lori and his beloved felines: Bootsie, Sam and Blackie.
All services will be private.
