Richard I. Kushto's Obituary
Richard I. Kushto, a devoted family man, passed away suddenly on August 16, 2024, in Lewes, Delaware. Born on June 20, 1958, in Chester, Pennsylvania, Richard’s spirit and kindness touched many lives during his 66 years.
Richard was raised in Lima, Pennsylvania and graduated from Penncrest High School in 1977. After graduation he worked at Sun Shipbuilding & Drydock Co. and after 34 years retired as a Superintendent with Woodside Associates. As a die-hard Philadelphia sports fan he could often be found watching and cheering on his favorite team, especially the Eagles. In his spare time, Richard enjoyed time with his family, boating, fishing and any activity that brought him together with family and friends. At home, Richard was a devoted husband, a proud father and an awesome “Poppy” to his cherished grandchildren. He blessed his family with wisdom, humor and an unwavering love that his family will cherish forever.
Memories of Richard will be treasured by his wife Lynne G. Kushto of Millsboro, DE, his children Darren R. Kushto (Josée) of Strasburg, PA, Nicci M. Thomas (John) of Springfield, PA, and Marli L. Holleran (Mike) of Wilmington, DE; his grandchildren Kylen M. Holleran and Kamden D. Holleran of Wilmington, DE; his brother Robert R. Kushto (Chris) of Millsboro, DE; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Richard was predeceased by his parents, Barbara J. Kushto-Ferrara and Richard R. Kushto.
Richard’s smile and generosity will be forever missed by the lives he touched. His memory will carry on in the stories shared amongst those who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Parsell Funeral Home, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes, DE 19958, where family and friends may begin visiting at 10:00 AM. The family encourages visitors to wear their Philadelphia sportswear. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Richard’s honor may be made to Travis Manion Foundation, P.O. Box 1485, Doylestown, PA 18901.
