Richard "Richie" J. Pirecki's Obituary
Richard “Richie” Pirecki, 71, of Lewes DE, passed away at his home on Friday, August 21, 2015. He was born on April 19, 1944 in Jersey City, NJ where he lived most of his life. He then moved to Ringwood, NJ and finally moved to Lewes in 2011 to be closer to his brother, Tom and sister-in-law, Mary.
Richie worked at the Trust Company of NJ for 42 years where he started out as a night watchman and retired as a Building Supervisor. He was a certified Black Seal Operator.
Before Richie's illness he could be seen walking his dog, Belle, around the neighborhood chatting or more accurately listening to his neighbors. Richie was a man of few words but he had a great sense of humor and a genuine kindness to him. He took great pleasure in on-line shopping and ordering from the Home Shopping Network on TV. His home was truly the place he enjoyed the most. Richie loved living in Delaware.
Richie was a loving brother, uncle, friend and neighbor. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He will forever remain in their hearts.
The family would especially like to thank Richie's wonderful helpful neighbors who continued to visit him during his illness. Special thanks to Delaware Hospice particularly Rev. Marjorie, the chaplain who helped Richie in his journey to find acceptance and the director of Griswold Home Care, Beth Copeland for her invaluable assistance and the caretakers who took excellent care of Richie.
Richie was preceded in death by his mother, Tessie Pirecki and his older sister, Dolores Brady and his brother-in-law, Paul Brady. He is survived by his younger brother, Thomas Pirecki and his wife Mary of Lewes, DE, formerly of Jackson, NJ; three nephews: Paul Brady and his wife Isabella of Ringwood, NJ, John Brady and his wife Julia of Lincoln Park, NJ and Matthew Pirecki of San Diego, CA; a great nephew, Jonathan Brady; "adopted relative," Sharon Cherry of Lewes, DE; his loyal friends: Domenick Mauriello of Matawan, NJ and Christina and Henry Grodek of Clifton, NJ and many extended family members and friends.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2015, at 12:00 PM, at the Chapel at the historic village at Allaire State Park, 4265 Atlantic Avenue, Farmingdale, NJ 07727. Interment will be private.
