Richard Francis Jozwiak of Lewes, DE, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully on October 18, 2024, at the age of 82 with his family by his side. Richard will be deeply missed by his dear wife and best friend, Sally; two children, John J (Susan) Jozwiak and Heather L. (David) Keane; and his seven grandchildren, John F. (Samantha); Emma, Jack, and Jason Jozwiak and Lauren (Tyler) Magaha, Grant and Evan Keane. Mr. Jozwiak, who was born in Baltimore, MD, on September 16, 1942, was predeceased by his parents, Frank, and Marie (Strzegowski) Jozwiak. He is also survived by favorite cousins who were siblings he never had, and special friends who were welcomed as part of his family.
Richard lived a life defined by hard work, love and a deep connection to his family, faith, and community. Richard graduated from Towson University with a degree in education and a minor in finance. He dedicated over 37 years to the United States Postal Service, which included the position of postmaster of Gaithersburg, Westminster, and Middletown, MD. Prior to his positions in the field, Richard served as a capital investment analyst, for the Capital Investment Committee at Postal Service Headquarters in Washington, D.C. After retiring and moving to Lewes, Richard joined the Moose Club and the Elks Club and served as Treasurer of the Elks for 4 years. Richard was known for his infectious laugh and his ability to bring joy to those around him. His outgoing nature and love of meeting new people made him an appreciated member of the community. Richard was an avid golfer. His idea of helping with weekend chores was to stay out of the way and play twenty-seven holes of golf.
However, Richard’s greatest joy was his family. He took great pride in their accomplishments and achievements. He particularly loved the telephone calls from his children and grandchildren to talk about any ball game in progress, how school was going, or hear about the latest music endeavor.
