Dear Sue and family – I just learned of Rich’s passing and I’m so sorry I missed the notice to come to his life celebration!
Rich was the section manager when I was hired at OIS many years ago; I stayed there for 14 years. He was always very nice to me. When I’d walk into his office he was usually playing with some new technology and usually told me to sit down so he could show me the latest thing, before we ever got to whatever question I had gone there to ask. But he never seemed to mind that I’d just walk in there, and his office door was always open. Sometimes he even gave me software to take home and try out on my home computer. He had such a knack for seeing ahead to where technology was heading, and he made concerted efforts to have us venture into the previously unknown. I always felt he was a big part of the launching of my long State career.

Our condolences and sorrow go out to Sue, Jen and Mike and all the other family members on the loss of Rich. Rich was a Wonderful Husband, Father and Grandfather, as well as a great and loyal friend to so many others. Although Sue is my first cousin and I have known her all my life, we have never lived close to each other in order to enjoy frequent visits. But we did get together for short visits in Florida when they came for vacation trips. We always enjoyed spending time together and it seems we always had some technology problem that Rich was able to resolve in a few minutes. Amazing ! I want you all to know I send my sincerest condolences and express my deepest sympathies for your loss. Like Carl, who said Rich was his best friend, I too considered Rich a great friend, mentor, and colleague. We shared many hours together as State employees. Richie was my best friend for 74 years. We truly loved each other. He will always live in my heart. He was like the brother I never had and was really a part of our family. Rich practically lived at our house in Bethpage. My family loved him. He never needed an invitation to come in just show up. Rich loved my mothers ice tea and went to the fridge first thing when he came over. As An adopted member od our famuły Rich learned to play pinocle And we spent numerous hours playing with my Grandfather who thought he was great. I can not ćpuny Joe many hours we spent together on the golf course. He will be truly missed.
