To my hero, Papa:

Here I sit, wishing you were here to talk to... I was lucky enough to have spent 27 years of my life under your guidance, love, and support... Not many kids get the chance to have such a close relationship with their grandparents. You were my second dad, you were my mentor, my driving instructor, my walking encyclopedia. There aren't enough words contained in all of the languages of the world combined, to express the love I have for you, nor could they describe the incredible trench that is within the thickest part of my heart. You ingrained me with so many stories, morals, expectations, and memories.

Grammy, Mom, Dad, Jake, Kaelyn and I miss you something terrible.......

I will leave you with something you always told me:

"May you have strong winds, and following seas......"

I will love you eternally, Papa, and don't worry, when we miss you, we just look at the moon, and know that you're looking at it, too.

Mr.Imus, Susan, and Mark:

Stillwater Ave. was THE best place to grow up, because of our parents. Mr. Imus' smile and laugh ran from your house up to ours. He was one of the sweetest, kindest people ever. His look never changed. He loved his family dearly. And he was always there for the Brooks girls. My deepest sympathy to all of you. And you know how happy Corinne was on June 12.

When a person dies, it's important to remember his life here on earth, his relationships, his accomplishments, his good deeds. We have fond memories of Dick in the time that we knew him. We spent time with Dick and BJ in Hawaii as they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful adventure with them when we both visited with Mark and Laura in Fiji. Some great memories to have. We know that his family will miss him greatly, and we offer our sympathy to them as they mourn Dick's passing.

Obituary:

Richard H. “Dick” Imus was born on May 19, 1926 to Henry A. and Ruth Imus. Following his father’s career and duties Dick traveled from Holland, Michigan to Rochester, NY to Dartmouth, NH and Pompano Beach, FL by the time he graduated High School. Dick attended Dartmouth College, enlisted in the Navy and experienced WWII from the USS Boxer, which visited ports of call including Tsingtao, which he found to be fascinating. Dick completed his degree at UNH in Durham during the time that he met his wife, Betty-Jean, working a summer job at a lovely hotel at Hampton Beach, New Hampshire where he was renowned for swift delivery of room service. His career as a civilian at the Office of Naval Research took him around the world and gave him the opportunity to meet and support scientists funded by ONR all over the world. After years of retirement Dick and Betty-Jean moved to Oceanview, Delaware and shared their home with Shorty, a wonderful Corgie that looked after him as well as his dog Patsy which saw him through his teenage years. Dick is survived by his wife of over 62 years, his son Mark and a daughter Susan.
