Richard A. Geist's Obituary
Richard A. Geist, age 78, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away Friday, October 12, 2012, at home with his wife of 57 years by his side. Born on December 26, 1933 in Hegins Township, PA, he was the son of the late William Geist and Esther Maurer Geist.
Richard worked for 16 years at Olmstead Air Base, Middletown, PA. He was a proud Teamster for Hall's Motor Transit in Mechanicsburg, PA for 16 years, until its closing, and then worked for the Borough of Highspire, PA an additional 5 years until his retirement. While still living in Highspire, which he did for 30 years, he loved his daily visits to the Highspire Boat Club where he enjoyed the scenery and shared stories with friends. As the Club's Caretaker, he took great pride in keeping up with the property. After relocating to the beach, he loved visiting "The Avenue" in Rehoboth Beach. He and his miniature pinscher, " Missy," always looked forward to sitting on the bench in front of Louie's Pizza where Richard enjoyed chatting up the walkers almost every morning. Ultimately, Richard was a family man first and foremost and enjoyed nothing more than visits from his family.
