Regina Mae Ward, age 65 of Millsboro, DE, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021, at Cadia Rehabilitation Renaissance Healthcare, in Millsboro, DE. She was born on January 21, 1956, in Bristol, PA, daughter of the late Lawrence and Margaret (Schneider) Metzger.
Regina was a graduate of Villa Joseph Marie High School, Class of 1973, and Holy Family College, where she earned her BSN in 1977. She enjoyed a lifelong career as a registered nurse, working in medical-surgery, hemodialysis, and as a visiting nurse. In 2001, Regina took a 6-month hiatus from nursing to join the Sensory Department at the Hershey Foods Company. She was among 15 panelists trained in the art of chocolate tasting ~ the ultimate “dream job,” and she loved every minute of it!
On September 5, 1981, Regina married her love, Philip Charles Ward, at Our Lady of Good Council Church in Southhampton, PA.
Her hobbies and interests were many and varied. She took pleasure in cooking for family and friends, gardening, and cross-stitching. Mrs. Ward created beautiful water-color paintings and stained-glass art. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and was an avid skier and traveler.
Regina volunteered for Meals on Wheels and Hope Lodge in Hershey, PA, and was involved in the Rehoboth Art League.
Above all, Regina cherished time spent with those she held most dear. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and friend, who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Regina was preceded in death by her brother, Francis James Cummins. She is survived by her beloved husband, Philip Charles Ward of Rehoboth Beach, DE and her daughter, Christina Mae Ward of Voorhees, NJ.
