Raymond Joseph Lambert's Obituary
Raymond Joseph Lambert, Sr., “Count”, age 73 of Lewes, DE passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, DE. He was born March 7, 1937 in Philadelphia, PA son of the late Charles Thomas Lambert and Anna Marie Smith Lambert.
Mr. Lambert began his career as one of Delaware County's first Paramedics with the Chester City Fire Department. As a city firefighter he was a first responder to the nation's worst environmental disaster "The Wade Dump Fire" of 1978 and later retired in 1991 after 25 years as a Chester City Firefighter.
After retirement he and his wife of 30 years Christine Francis Lambert moved to the Lewes area where he worked for several years at the Star of the Sea and the YMCA, both in Rehoboth Beach, DE. He was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, Lewes, DE; the American Legion Post 17 Lewes, DE; and was a Korean War Veteran of the US Air Force. He was an avid reader, enjoyed fishing, crabbing and walking the beach with his metal detector. However, what he most enjoyed was spending time with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two sisters, Barbara Siebert of Woodlyn, PA and Nancy Blades of Marcus Hook, PA.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years Christine Francis Lambert; four sons: Raymond Joseph Lambert, Jr. and wife Renee’ of Boothwyn, PA, Derek Lambert and wife Merydth of Wilmington, DE, Kyle Lambert, and Albert Lambert, both of Lewes, DE; three daughters: Shirley Lambert Pope and husband Kirk of Lewes, DE, Lori Lambert Muraska and husband Joseph of Boothwyn, PA, and Marie Lambert of Lewes, DE; sisters: Joan Siple of Upland, PA, Charlotte Pierson of Smyrna, DE, and Dorothy Thomas of Lewes, DE.
Grandchildren, Tony Savage, Raymond Lambert, Rosemarie Lambert, Gavin Lambert, Aidan Lambert, Adriane Muraska, Jake Muraska, Audrey Lambert, and great granddaughter Jolie Cross.
Friends may call on Saturday, November 20, 2010 from 6-8 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE. Entombment with military honors will be private.
In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
