Raymond Eugene Heulitt's Obituary
Raymond Eugene Heulitt, 72, died peacefully in Wilmington, Delaware, with his family by his side, Thursday, January 5, 2023. He finally succumbed to a multi-year health challenge which saw him return to a life of simple pleasures and constant family devotion and love.
Ray was born on March 27, 1950, in Manasquan, NJ, to William and Jean Heulitt (née Miller). He was a graduate of Manasquan High School and attended Bloomfield College. He lived in New Jersey for almost his entire life, but settled in Milton, Delaware, for his final years.
Ray leaves behind Cynthia, his loving and faithful wife of 52 years, daughter Deena Harmon (husband Jerry) and son David Heulitt (husband Philip Martucci), and two grandchildren, Nicole and Alex Harmon. The oldest of five, Ray also leaves behind siblings Bonnie Fossett, Timothy Heulitt, Ronald Heulitt, and Terry Scherer.
For more than 25 years, Ray was a successful entrepreneur, owning and operating Control Sales, Inc., a company based in Wayne, NJ, focused on helping businesses of all sizes measure detailed indicators of mechanical performance, such as liquid level, flow, and viscosity. This type of work was a testament to Ray’s relentless curiosity for all-things-mechanical. An engineer at heart, Ray was a lifelong student of the world around him-constantly figuring out how things work and educating those around him.
An undeniable patriarch, Ray’s greatest passion in life was his family. He had no greater joy than spending time with his family, educating them on the world and what was possible for them, with his own personal brand of humor. He especially loved participating in as many band or music-related concerts and events as possible where his grandchildren, Nicole and Alex, always played leading roles. Many times, Ray’s life lessons took place on the family’s cabin cruiser boat, swimming in their pool during family barbeques, or together on family vacations, with the family’s four-legged friends included.
But it is his wife, Cynthia, who was a constant figure of true love and devotion. In an instant, when the course of their lives was changed forever, Cynthia’s strength and perseverance provided not only the foundation for more than six years of care and protection, but an iron-clad blueprint for marriage: a lifelong commitment of unconditional love steeped in respect and safe-keeping, even through great challenge.
A celebration of Ray’s life will take place on Sunday, January 22, 2023, at 3:00 PM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy, Lewes, DE, where friends may visit beginning at 2:00 PM. A reception for friends and family will immediately follow.
