Ray Franklin Fremont's Obituary
Ray Franklin Fremont, age 88, of Lewes, DE, entered into eternal rest on January 14, 2015 at his home. He was born in Danbury, WI on March 28, 1926, son of the late Charles LaFayette and Bertha Ann (Folley) Fremont.
Ray was a great lover of baseball. While in high school Ray played Class B ball with a minor league for several years. He was a huge fan of the Atlanta Braves and Boston Redsox.
Ray retired as a CPO from the US Navy after a 20 year career and was a WWII veteran. He held a Pilot's License and enjoyed a 25 year career as an electrician for Newport News Shipbuilding in Newport News, VA.
After retirement Ray and his wife Colleen spent many years traveling the United States in their RV criss crossing the states nearly 4 different times. They would spend many good times in Key West FL, where they nurtured many new friendships which Ray cherished until his last days.
Ray loved watching old western movies and TV programs such as Gunsmoke. He was an avid reader of novels with a Western setting, especially those of Louie Lemore. He loved volunteering and helping anyone who needed a hand or was just down on their luck.
Ray enjoyed hunting and fishing and never turned down an ice cold Coors Light on a hot summer day. He was a jokester at heart and never met a person who didn't instantly become his friend.
At the age of 82, Ray rededicated his life to the Lord and became a member of Midway Baptist Church, Lewes, DE. Ray was baptized and a five year member at Midway until his death. He was a member of a number of VA organizations, a lifetime member of the VFW and 50 year member of the Knights of Columbus. Ray was a long time member of Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Hampton, VA.
Ray was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his ten brothers and sisters, three which did not survive to adulthood, his wife of 46 years, Inocencia, and their daughter, Lina Rae Fremont.
Ray is survived by his second wife of 18 years, Colleen; two sons, Charles and his wife Elaine; John; and two daughters, Theresa Seem and her husband John; and Regina Gomez and her husband Alejandro; four grandchildren: Jesse, Christina, Peter, and Annika, and five great-grandchildren: Tucker, Elijah, Grady, Owen, and Raygen; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
