Ralph K. Graves Sr.'s Obituary
Ralph K. Graves, age 77 of Georgetown, DE passed away on July 15, 2010 at the University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore, MD following an automobile accident in Millsboro, DE. Mr. Graves was born on December 9, 1932 in Lewes, DE, son of the late Henry G. and Frances L. (Ennis) Graves.
Mr. Graves graduated from Georgetown High School in 1950, attended The Peddie School in Hightstown, NJ and the University of Delaware. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and held the office of Commissioner of Bethany Beach, DE for six years. Mr. Graves enjoyed being an active member in Eagles Nest Fellowship Church and participated in many other organizations and associations throughout his life including: V.F.W., Disabled American Veterans, Grace United Methodist Church, Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Company, Franklin Lodge #12 AF & AM, Georgetown, the Delaware Consistory, Wilmington, Nur Temple Shrine Club, New Castle, Kent & Sussex Counties Scottish Rite, Hope Chapter #7 of the Royal Arch Masons, Evergreen Forest #49 Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Chesapeake walk to Emmaus, Meals on Wheels, Delaware Hospice, Delaware Mobile Surf-Fisherman Association, and Sussex Pines Country Club.
Mr. Graves is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eula Mae Graves; two sons: Ralph K. Graves, Jr. of Seaford, DE and Bruce B. and wife Elaine E. Graves of Seaford, DE; six grandchildren: Bryan, Kay Debuio and husband Tony, Travis, Beth, Dustin, and Kim; and his sister, Virginia Lee Short of Georgetown, DE.
Funeral Services will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Eagles Nest Fellowship Church, 26633 Zion Church Road, Milton, DE with Pastor Mike Hargreaves officiating. Friends may call at the church on Thursday beginning at 4:00 PM. Entombment with military honors will be on Friday, July 30, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE. Arrangements by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Georgetown, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Eagles Nest Fellowship Church, P.O. Box 129, Milton, DE 19968, or to Pioneers Missionary in support of Mr. Graves’ granddaughter’s mission work in Africa.
