Phyllis J. Kullberg's Obituary
Phyllis J. Kullberg of Dover, DE passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 25th at Capitol Nursing Home. She was on the Alzheimer’s unit for eleven years and was greatly cared for by many family, friends, and staff. Phyllis was 88 years old and the youngest of eleven children born to Vernie & Jimmie Gordon in Emporia, Virginia.
Phyllis married the love of her life, G. William (Bill) Kullberg, in 1950. They were married for 57 and half years until Bill passed away in 2007. They lived in Emporia, Virginia when they were first married, and then Phyllis and Bill moved to New Jersey, where Bill was born and raised. They lived in Union Beach and Keyport, NJ for over 30 years. Phyllis was a faithful member of the Keyport Reformed Church. Her daughter and son-in-law were married at her church and two of their grandchildren were baptized at her church. Their 50th wedding anniversary party and vow renewal was also held at her church.
Phyllis was a lifetime homemaker. She loved the holidays and spending time with her family. Every summer, the family went to Virginia for family reunions. She loved Rod Stewart and went to several of his concerts with her daughter. Phyllis was an avid bowler. She also loved her Saturday shopping days with her daughter, who was her best friend.
In 1999, Bill & Phyllis moved to Dover, Delaware to live closer to their daughter and three of their eight grandchildren. They both loved being grandparents!
In addition to her parents and her husband, Phyllis was preceded in death by her son, Robert J. Kullberg; and her great grandson, Thomas A. Kullberg. Her ten siblings and their spouses also preceded her death.
Phyllis is survived by her son, William G. Kullberg of Middletown, NJ; and her daughter and son-in-law, Valerie J. and Timothy M. Milligan of Middleburg, PA.
Phyllis is also survived by her eight grandchildren and their spouses:
Seth (Hayden) Milligan, Ashlyn (Kyle) Slowick, Jared Milligan, Matt (Brandy) Milligan, Kelsey (Chris) Stryker, William R. Kullberg, Danielle Krecz and Matthew (Chole) Krecz.
Phyllis had fifteen great grandchildren: Maddison Milligan, Cooper Milligan, Paige Milligan, Mallory Moon, Mason Milligan, Morgan Milligan, Noah Stryker, Gage Kullberg, Richard Kullberg, Elizabeth Kullberg, Dylan Vanderstar, Michael Vanderstar, Joseph Vanderstar, Anthony Magistro, and Atreus Krecz.
Phyllis was blessed with two great great grandbabies:
Aubree & Owen Kullberg.
Phyllis was very close to her Granddaughter/Goddaughter Ashlyn Slowick, who is pregnant with Phyllis’s sixteenth great grandchild.
Phyllis is also survived by many nieces and nephews in Virginia.
Phyllis will be missed by her family and all who knew her. She was a truly loving and caring woman.
After her cremation at Parsell Funeral Home and Crematorium in Lewes, DE, Phyllis will be laid to rest at Green Grove Cemetery in Keyport, NJ beside her son and husband.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Association of Delaware: 108 North Bedford Street, Georgetown, DE 19947.
