My heart is saddened today as I learn of my dearest friend’s passing.
She was beautiful in and out. We were classmates at St. Michael’s Academy, traveling to Penn Station daily for all of four years. We continued together at Brooklyn College to complete our education. We joined Dove House…a small social group on a big campus. We worked together as camp counselors at Camp Immaculata in Mattituck, LI, NY. We were in each other’s bridal party. We were inseparable in thought if not in person, when Allan and Phyllis moved to Maryland… Rob and I missed them terribly .
We shared so many memories….one in particular stands out…perhaps Allan may remember. We traveled to upstate New York one beautiful Fall day in Allan’s red Pontiac convertible…and we stayed at a house of one of Allan’s friends, Eric. Never realizing how cold the temperature would get at night…..the only way to stay warm was to cozy up on a pullout bed (yes all four of us together) in front of the roaring fire place.
In the morning we laughed when we noticed the candles on the fireplace mantle melted over in a curl. No harm was done.
But just one of many memories that always brings a smile to Rob and to me when we think back to those times when we were four, fun loving young people who enjoyed each other’s company.
We missed them so much…..No one ever filled that cherished void.
Our deepest condolences to Al and the Connell family.
