Philip Melnick's Obituary
Philip Melnick, age 89, of Georgetown, DE, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at his home. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, on August 30, 1924, son of the late Samuel and Pauline (Brinzeck) Melnick.
Mr. Melnick honorably served in the United States Army during World War II. Following his discharge, he embarked on a lifelong career as a Police Photographer in the Philadelphia Police Department. After his retirement in 1978, Mr. Melnick relocated to the Rehoboth Beach resort area and later to Georgetown, DE. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed tending to his garden. He was also a member of the American Legion, Post # 28 in Millsboro.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Melnick was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Melnick. He is survived by his daughter, Julia A. Lewis and her husband Victor of Philadelphia, PA; four grandchildren and their spouses: Scott Lewis of Phoenix, AZ, Mark Lewis of Lansdale, PA, Samantha Robinson of Haverford, PA and Brian Lewis of Philadelphia, PA; four great-grandchildren: Emma and Holly Lewis and James and Dillon Robinson; a sister, Dorothy Hill of Philadelphia, PA; and his companion, Irma Fraizer of Georgetown, DE.
