Peter Gerald Micciche's Obituary
Peter Gerald Micciche
November 30, 2024, age 88
Peter Gerald Micciche, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on November 30, 2024, at the age of 88. Born in Philadelphia to Lawrence and Conchetta (Jean) Micciche, Pete was a gifted and creative individual. As a young man, his high school shop teacher remarked that he had “golden hands,” a testament to his natural talent and craftsmanship. Pete worked for Westinghouse for 28 years, retiring early to begin a new chapter in his life.
In 1995, Pete moved to Oceanview, where he expanded his love for craftsmanship by starting his own business. A talented bird carver and teacher, he mentored students seeking to enter the world of carving. Over time, his business grew to include handcrafted furniture and reproductions, truly reflecting his skill and passion. His hands were, indeed, golden.
Pete was a man who deeply loved his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cherished his Lexus. A devoted husband to his wife, Gloria Strimel, whom he married in 1958, Pete was also a proud father to three children. His legacy continues through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Pete is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Gloria Micciche (Strimel); his brother, Vincent Micciche; his loving children Lisa M. McGraw (Phil) and Peter L. Micciche; as well as his cherished grandchildren, Aaron McGraw, Jena McGraw, Bryce Micciche (Cecilia), Christopher Micciche, Mason Micciche, and Quinn Micciche. He was also the proud great-grandfather of Adalynn Micciche.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Lawrence A. Micciche, his sister Rita Carter, and her husband Barlett Carter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Ann Parish, 691 Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach, DE 19930, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 32112 Vines Creek Rd, Dagsboro, DE 19939.
