Amy, Fred and boys, I am so sorry for your loss. I so enjoyed sharing time with Polly as an enthusiastic supporter on the lacrosse sidelines for so many years. Your tribute to her is wonderful. I knew she was a nurse but should have known she was a poet and writer, too. I know you will miss her dearly. All of the Heids are wishing you peace and comfort. XO
I met Polly and three of her friends in Lewes at one of my listings. They were a lively and delightful bunch of people and I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. We kept in touch and she invited me to see the beautiful home they built. We kept in touch and I was thinking of her on the day she passed away and intended to call. Unfortunately I was behind on the paper otherwise I would've come personally to express my condolences.
Polly was definitely a straight shooter with lots of talent and energy and I thoroughly enjoyed our talks and meetings. I am so very sorry for your loss. The world has one less bright light.
Polly was my longest and dearest friend from the time I came to DE in 1970. Our lives have crisscrossed in so many ways over the past decades from tennis games to picking raspberries, summer picnics, Christmas, spinning wool to our shared profession as nurses. Our families are more than friends - we are family. Thank you Polly for your generosity. Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with your family. We will miss you.
I played pickleball with Polly many years ago and always had fun with her on the court. She played hard and was very competitive but she was funny too because she knew her limits. I am thinking of all of you at this time. You have lost a special person and I am lucky to have known her.

Polly was a member of my Panera Poetry Critique Group. She was also a frequent contributor to Art in the AM and the Nights of Songs and Readings, both run by the Rehoboth Beach Writers Guild, of which Polly was an active member. I took several classes with her, including one at Judy Catterton's home. There Polly read to us the most beautiful story of a trip back to her farms with one of her granddaughters. I hope it was completed, and that lucky grandchild will treasure it always. Polly was always upbeat and direct. She would tell it like it is. A piece of our Panera Group is gone forever...may she rest in peace.
To Polly's family, I am so sorry for your loss. I hope you will seriously consider publishing a collection of her poems some day.

Polly brought light and laughter to everyone she met, including me. I'm so grateful for the time we shared in writing workshops, at readings and other events, and sharing an occasional meal. Her writings on her "tour" of family homes with her granddaughter were thoughtful, thorough and masterful storytelling. I hope those memories give her family many moments of joy when the sadness of her loss has lessened.
