I had the pleasure of working over 45 years with Paula at several stages of her career and life. I first got to know her as a student at Seaford Senior High School (Class of 1975). While naturally quiet, she was a mainstay of the band program (marching band, pep band, concert band); I especially appreciated her in helping to keep the rather flamboyant band director/conductor somewhat under control while she played the clarinet in the pit orchestras for school musicals (especially "The Sound of Music" her senior year). She was also a key leader with the Seaford literary magazine "Insight"; she always followed through on whatever task needed to be done.
Some years later, after her stint of teaching and leading at the Cape Henlopen School District [Thank you Gary Wray!], I was happy to be part of the team which welcomed Paula back to the Seaford Schools as a principal. Paula knew good instruction and she did a fine job shepherding the students and teachers at Frederick Douglass Elementary. Her final role in Seaford was as the Elementary Supervisor where she oversaw all of our elementary schools; she was a joy to work with when I consulted with the district.
Paula was an exemplary daughter as she cared both for her mother and then for her father in their final years. Further, she was a primary caregiver for her aunt. In recent years, when I occasionally met Paula and Diane Kichline for lunch, Paula would always have a funny story or two to tell about the challenges with her four-legged companions. She died too young but she made her mark as an excellent educator and a wonderful human being.
Gone but not forgotten by hundreds of students, parents, teachers and friends! Rest in peace, Paula!
I had to the pleasure to be Paula's principal at Lewes for several years when she was one of our key teachers. She was a super teacher...always very well prepared and spoken, self assured and very warm to the kids. Always with a great smile and laugh, she would quickly throw herself into any job that needed to get done either on her grade level or on the school level. I could always count on Paula to do things well. Later when she told me that she would like to go into school admin and that she would like me to recommend her for several available statewide positions, I was more than happy to do it. She was a fine teacher and a better person. She will be missed.

Paula was an amazing educator and a great person. She really cared about both her kids and her staff.
I taught at Fred Douglass in Seaford while Paula was principal there. She was an excellent principal. For the past few years she and two other friends of ours got together for lunch once a month. We have missed those lunches because of Covid and had hoped to continue them soon. Paula was a good friend and will be truly missed.
