Paul F. Saucier's Obituary
Paul Francois Saucier, 73, of Milton Delaware, passed away on April 13, 2018. He was born on January 15, 1945 in Lewiston, Maine, son of the late Olivier Saucier and Jeannette Nadeau.
Paul graduated from St. Dominic’s in May of 1963 and received his bachelors degree in mechanical engineering within two years at Wentworth Institute. He worked in the Mechanical Engineering Department as site Safety Manager of Engineering Development Laboratories for Dupont Industries for 39 years. A career National Guardsman, Paul served as staff officer of 736 supply and service battalion and as Commander of 262 detachment in Dagsborough. Following that, he served with the entire 262 Heavy Equipment Maintainace Company. His final years in service were spent as a Major.
Paul enjoyed working with metal and wood, hockey, soccer, softball, fishing, coaching his children’s sports, and spending countless hours supporting his grandchildrens' endeavors. Paul's hockey career began at college and continued with the Boston Bruins farm team, "the Hershey Bears" until 1971. He was also actively involved in the Kalmar Nyckel, was treasurer of the Carrcroft Civic Association, and volunteered as a board member and timer at the Timberlane Swim Club. Above all, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was loved by many, and he will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his siblings: Cecile Croteau and Jeannine Dubois. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Gwen Saucier; his children: Holly MacCluen, Heather Travis, and Jean-Paul Saucier; his siblings: Rita Dube and Normand Saucier; and his grandchildren: Ryan McAnally, Liam McAnally, Eric W. MacCluen, Madeleine Nicole Travis, William Barrett Travis, Benjamin Warren Travis, and Samuel Paul Travis.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on April 23, 2018 at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway; Lewes, DE, where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow the services at 1:00 PM at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way; Millsboro, DE.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital: P.O. Box 1893; Memphis, TN 38101 .
