Paul E. Peters' Obituary
Paul E. Peters, age 73, of Lewes, DE passed away on Monday, December 28, 2015 at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. He was born on December 4, 1942 in Paterson, NJ, son of the late Paul Louis and Isabelle (Maurer) Peters.
Mr. Peters proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. While stationed in Germany, he met the love of his life, Renate, who he married in 1966. Upon his honorable discharge, he continued his college education, graduating from Rutgers University with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. He embarked on a lifelong career working for various industrial companies before working at Becton, Dickinson & Company in Franklin Lakes, NJ, retiring after 25 dedicated years.
While living in Highland Lakes, NJ, Mr. Peters was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church and member of the Highland Lakes Community Association. An active community member, Paul held various positions within the association, including President for 2 years. Upon retirement to Lewes, DE, he became a parishioner of St. Jude The Apostle Catholic Church and a member of Henlopen Landing Community Association.
An avid sailor, bicyclist, and movie buff, he enjoyed air shows, auto racing, and bird watching. He had a strong interest in new technologies and science, and working on various home improvement projects.
Mr. Peters was a loving husband, father and a dear friend to many. He is survived by his loving wife and dancing partner of 49 years, Renate M. Peters of Lewes, DE; and two sons: Paul M. Peters of Lyndhurst, NJ and Karl R. Peters of Lewes, DE.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at 12:00 PM, at St. Jude The Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, DE 19958, where friends may call beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Peters' memory to the Lewes Public Library, 111 Adams Avenue, Lewes, DE 19958.
