Paul David Goins' Obituary
Paul D. Goins, 69, of Bridgeville, DE, passed away peacefully at home on April 5, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Julia Goins of Bridgeville, DE; his son, Jeff Goins of Prince Frederick, MD; his daughter Heather (John) Hammett of Chesapeake Beach, MD; his grandchildren, Ian and Juliana Hammett; his father, Claude D. Goins of Huntingtown, MD; sister Ema (Vic) Garner of Lusby, MD; brothers Joe (Linda) Goins of Martinsville, IN, and John (Sharon) Goins of Fort Worth, TX; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary (Vaughn) Goins and sister Mary (Goins) Crum.
Paul was raised in Prince Georges County, Maryland and graduated in 1966 from Bladensburg HS. He served in the US Air Force from 1966 -1970. He married Julia (Soutter) Goins on September 12, 1970 and they moved to Calvert County, MD in 1977. They retired to Delaware in 2012.
He worked for Ryland Homes for many years as a Construction Supervisor where he earned many awards. Upon retirement from Ryland he started his own business as a home inspector until his move to Delaware.
Paul was a member of Seaford Elks Lodge # 2458 and the Hughesville, MD American Legion Post 238 where he was Post Commander from 2002-2003. He also volunteered at the Veterans Home in Milford, DE.
Paul enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, riding his Harley and having a good time. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren become involved in many sports. He was a life-long Alabama fan - Roll Tide!
Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 3:00 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws Street, Bridgeville, DE 19933 where friends may visit beginning at 2:00 PM. Interment will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Lodge of Baltimore, MD or the American Cancer Society.
