Patricia C. Slygh's Obituary
Patricia Cyganowski Slygh, age 64, of Georgetown, DE, formerly of Bel Air MD, passed away on Monday March 13, 2023. She was born in Bloomsburg PA to her late parents, Alfred J. Cyganowski and Mary Ruth (Steiner) Cyganowski.
Mrs. Slygh proudly served her country as a civil servant working for the Department of Defense and the State Department. After her retirement, she became very involved with the Parkinson’s Education and Support Group of Sussex County, due to her husband’s progressing Parkinson’s Disease. She eventually became director of the group, a position she had held for the last several years, even after her husband’s passing. Mrs. Slygh’s tireless dedication to the group and her community will be dearly missed. She was a loving wife, mother, Nana, sister, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
Mrs. Slygh is preceded in death by her loving husband of 30 years, Edward Slygh, formally of Georgetown, DE. She is survived by her children: Alicen and her husband, Brad Dingman, of Chesapeake, VA, Joseph and his wife, Sarah (Arminger) Slygh of Bel Air, MD; her sister Jean and her husband, Mike Chiveral of Essex, MD; and her grandchildren and nephews.
A public viewing will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 N. Bedford Street, Georgetown, DE, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, and an additional viewing will be held the same evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Burial will be private at Delaware Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Mrs. Slygh's memory to Parkinson's Education and Support, Group of Sussex County, P.O. Box 56, Lewes, DE 19958.
