Patricia U. Ellerman's Obituary
Patricia “Pat” Jane Ulsh Ellerman of Bridgeville, DE lost her battle with Alzheimer’s disease on Sunday, May 8, 2016, but won a glorious entrance into Heaven where she was reunited with her husband and favorite card playing partner, Ray Ellerman.
Pat was born on March 6, 1928 in Juniata County, PA, daughter of the late Alma and Ray Ulsh. She attended Newport High School where she was captain of the varsity basketball team and played 1st chair violin in the school orchestra. In 1947, Pat married the love of her life, Donald “Ray” Ellerman. They celebrated 56 years of marriage until his death in 2004.
In the early years of marriage, Ray was a harness horse trainer and driver and Pat would help in the stables and paddock. After moving to Bridgeville, Pat became employed in the Recorder of Deeds Office in Georgetown and later worked at Family Court in Georgetown. Wanting to own her own business, she opened an exercise salon (Shape Ahoy) in Seaford until they sold it and bought the Bridgeville Tastee Freeze. Later Pat worked in Legislative Hall in Dover when the Legislators were in session, until her retirement.
Together Pat and Ray had two daughters: Sharon Rae Dukes and her husband, Wayne and Karen Lee Parker and her husband, Eddy; eight grandchildren: Deric Parker and his wife, Carla; Dionne Keeler and her husband, Chris; Dana Parker; and Dustin Parker and his wife, Rachel, all of Bridgeville, DE; Robyn Sturgeon and her husband, Mike; TJ Dukes and his wife, Rachel, both of Seaford, DE; Heather Stokley and her husband, Chris; Krista Schirmer and her husband, Morgan, both of Georgetown, DE and 17 great-grandchildren. Love for her family was evident in everything Pat did.
Pat is also survived by three sisters, Gloria Rolston of Harrisburg PA, Jean Amstutz and her husband, Fred, of Sun City Center, FL and Sandra Guidon of Carlisle, PA.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2016, at 1:00 PM, at Union United Methodist Church, 2 N. Laws Street, Bridgeville, DE 19933, where friends may visit beginning at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow the services at Bridgeville Cemetery.
