Page Lancaster Gifford Campbell's Obituary
Page Lancaster Gifford Campbell passed away peacefully on Friday, January 10, 2014 at the age of 91. She was under the tender care of the nurses and staff of Cadbury at Lewes since 2009. Born in Middleton, MA on June 3, 1922, Page was the daughter of the late George and Alva (Trask) Gifford. Page was the loving wife of Elmer O. Campbell, Jr., who passed away in 2003, after 59 years of marriage.
She was raised in Middleton and graduated from Holten High School, Danvers, MA and Virginia Intermont College, Bristol, Va. Page was employed at Flint Public Library and involved in various organizations and activities in the town of Middleton. Before relocating to Lewes, DE to reside with her son, Bruce, she and Elmer retired to her husband’s ancestral home in Marblehead, MA.
Page loved the outdoors and being close to nature from the woods of Middleton, the beaches of Marblehead and the mountains of New England. She also enjoyed interacting with people of all walks of life.
Page is survived by her five children: Kerry (Cathy) Campbell of Sugar Land, TX; Clover Nally of Amesbury, MA; Bruce Campbell of Lewes, DE; Dana (Pam) Campbell of Marblehead, MA; Laurie (Willy) Mercier of Sandy Point, ME; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Gayle Coppetta; her sister-in-law, Lorayne Hocter and extended family. Page was predeceased by her husband Elmer, her parents and brothers Parker Gifford and Davis Gifford.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations sent to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963 or the Cadbury Foundation Resident Reserve Fund, 17028 Cadbury Circle, Lewes, DE 19958.
