Opal Cornelius Sutphin's Obituary
Opal Cornelius Sutphin, age 95, of Roanoke, VA and Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at the Delaware Hospice Center of Milford. Born in Pulaski, VA on July 27, 1915, he was the son of the late Owen Covelia and Laura (Alderman) Sutphin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Rachel Stanley Sutphin in 2007.
A resident of Roanoke, VA, MR Sutphin recently moved to Rehoboth Beach. His proudest accomplishment was becoming an Executive for Norfolk-Western Railroad.
Mr. Sutphin is survived by two daughters; Sue Morimoto and her husband Joshua of Rehoboth Beach, DE and Janice S. Hughes and her husband Michael of MIllsboro, DE and two sons: Ruswin L. Sutphin and his wife Janice M. of Houston, TX and Stuart K. Sutphin and his wife Wanda of Chatham, VA, six grandchildren, four great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Mariner's Bethel United Methodist Church, 81 Central Avenue, Ocean View, DE 19970. The family will greet friends at the church at 10:00 AM
Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.
