Norman Anthony Bennett's Obituary
Norman Anthony Bennett, 64, of Millsboro, DE, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, December 16, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 24, 1960, in Manhattan, NY, he was the cherished son of the late Edward Outcalt and Vera Bennett.
Norman’s journey was one of perseverance and dedication. After earning his GED, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, proudly serving his country with courage and distinction. The Marine Corps instilled in Norman a lifelong commitment to honor, discipline, and integrity—qualities that defined every chapter of his life.
In New York, Norman met and married his soulmate, Aliyah Bennett. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love, mutual respect, and an unshakable bond that carried them through life’s challenges and joys.
For many years, Norman worked as a bus operator for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). He was highly regarded by colleagues and commuters alike for his reliability, kindness, and warm demeanor.
Norman found joy in the little things that brought people together. He was a talented pool player whose precision and competitive spirit made him a formidable opponent and a beloved fixture in any game room. An avid New York Yankees fan, he relished every pitch, hit, and win, embodying the team’s spirit of loyalty and perseverance.
Above all, Norman cherished his family and friends. He is survived by his devoted wife, Aliyah Ladson-Bennett; his beloved daughter-in-love, Rashidah B. Fowler; his cherished granddaughter-in-love, Ananda K. Kinard; his brother, Eddie B. Outcalt; his sister, Julie T. Outcalt; his nephew, Eddie B. Outcalt Jr.; his uncle, John C. Bennett; and many cousins and dear friends. He was predeceased by his great-grandmother, Verona "Nana" Bennett; his mother, Vera Bennett; and his father, Edward Outcalt.
A chapel committal service honoring Norman’s life will take place on Monday, December 30, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE 19966.
