Nina S. Patchell's Obituary

Nina S. Patchell, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, age 93, of Lewes, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away on March 21, 2022, at Beebe Hospital.
Nina Ramsey Sommerville was born in Philadelphia, PA to Donald and Mildred Sommerville (McGinty) In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 60years, Edward Winslow Patchell; son, Edward Winslow Patchell, Jr.; and granddaughter, Rebecca Rider Ehehalt. Nina is survived by her daughters, Kathryn P. Ehehalt and Jane R. Patchell of Millsboro, DE; daughter-in-law, Patricia Patchell of Sarasota, FL; grandchildren John
G. Ehehalt, Jr. (Gregg), Elizabeth Patchell and her husband Matthew Rodenberger, and David Patchell; and great granddaughter, Abigail Winslow Rodenberger.
She was a graduate of Winchester Thurston School and the Pennsylvania State University. Nina lived her life according to her principles of contributing to her family, friends and community. Some of her activities included Girl Scout leader, President of Roosevelt School PTA, President of Jefferson Womens Club, volunteer at Jefferson Hospital, Meals on Wheels volunteer, lifetime member of the Pennsylvania State University Alumni Association, member of the Lewes Historical Society ("LHS") where she organized and chaired the first LHS visitor center at the Rabbit Ferry House, the LHS annual Oktoberfest, and established the Society's Strawberry Festival. Nina was a member and past Vice-Regent of the Colonel David Hall Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday March 26, 2022, at 11:00 AM beginning with a Daughters of the American Revolution Service followed by a Christian Service conducted by Rev. Frank Deming. The services and a visitation beginning at 10 AM will be held at the Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE. Private interment will be held at a later date at Sewickley Cemetery in Sewickley, PA.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic social distancing protocols must be observed and masks must be worn by everyone participating in any aspect of the service.
