Nicholas Izzo's Obituary
Nicholas Izzo, age 78, of Millville, DE died Sunday, March 19, 2006, at his residence. Mr. Izzo was born in Paterson, NJ, son of the late Antonio and Elvira (Mauntone) Izzo. He lived in Reading, PA for many years where he and his wife Virginia, raised their six children.
While in Reading, he worked for Sharman's Music, and later Zeswitz Music Company as a sales representative in the surrounding multi-state area. Following a move to Maryland, he and his wife operated a music shop in Havre de Grace from 1979 to 1991. He was involved in a program in the school system there to collect, repair and make available musical instruments to students in the Harford County area who could not afford to buy them. He donated over 50 stringed instruments to this program. Nick was a well-respected craftsman who specialized in the repair of stringed and band instruments.
After closing his business in 1991, he moved to Millville, DE where he continued working in instrument repairs until 2005.
Nicholas was a U.S. Navy veteran who served during both WWII and the Korean War. His interests included kite flying, woodworking, preparation of Italian cuisine for family and guests, and of course, music. His love of music lives on in his family where some of the proudest moments were spent listening and watching his children and grandchildren perform.
