She graduated from Goldey-Beacom College, after which she began a career as a deputy sheriff in Sussex County and owned and ran the Raughley House Bed and Breakfast in Bridgeville. Mrs. McClary loved being outdoors, where she enjoyed working in her yard and tending her various gardens. She was the consummate hostess, entertaining during the tea parties she held for dear friends. Mrs. McClary was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan, always supporting the Orange and Black. She also enjoyed oil painting and collecting antiques. Mrs. McClary enjoyed tracing her family's history and gathering information for her family tree.
