Nelson Earl Harris' Obituary
Nelson Earl Harris, age 81, of Lewes, DE, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Beebe Medical Center. He was born in Providence, RI, on March 21, 1931, son of the late John Albert Dewey and Colletta Flynn Harris.
Mr. Harris retired as a Master Sergeant of the US Army after 21 years of service and began his second career with the Howard County Department of Public Works where he retired as Chief Inspector after 21 years of service.
He was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church where he served in many capacities and was also a 4th degree Knights of Columbus Member. He was a member of the American Legion Post 28, the VFW Post 7447 and a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians; he enjoyed golfing.
Mr. Harris is survived by his wife of 59 years Patricia Ann Harris; son Michael Harris and wife Patricia of Baltimore, MD; his daughter Theresa Fowler and husband James of Baltimore, MD; grandsons: Dale Limpert, James Fowler, Jr., and Michael Harris, Jr.; granddaughter Jacqueline Kellinger and husband Nicholas; great-grandchildren: Jordan and Jaden Limpert; two sisters: Ellen Silva and Elizabeth Werner; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 23, 2012, at 11:00 AM, at St, Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, DE where friends may call at the church beginning at 10:00 AM. Friends may also visit on Sunday, July 22, 2012 from 6-8 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE where Rosary will be recited at 7:30 PM.
Burial will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
