Ned shared his first name with his uncle, my dad, Ned Bottum. He was quick witted and I always enjoyed his sense of humor. I can still hear his laughter, it sounded like his mom’s, my Aunt Janet’s. He is greatly missed.

I met Ned at The College of St. Rose when he was working in IT to help me with electronic issues I frequently encountered since computers were a new thing and my phone never seemed to work. Little did I know I’d later meet his son not immediately knowing they were even related. The 3 of us drove out to Colorado one year for spring break taking turns driving so we could go straight through. We spent time in Estes Park and hung out with Dan and I learned what Rocky Mountain oysters were. Jim and I briefly lived with Ned while we were expecting Danika and I got to witness his “voracious sweet tooth” in person when he’d often stand in front of the fridge eating ice cream straight from the container when the urge struck him 😎. It was amazing to witness how excited he was to become a grandfather and always managed to keep in touch with Danika, Jadyn, and Jaymz despite being miles away even recently inspiring Jaymz to pursue his passion for nature photography, gifting him with one of his cameras. We will all miss Ned and his infectious smile and calming presence that put everyone at ease when he was around.
