I was devastated when I got the news from Karen about Nancy. I've known her all my life, although we weren't very close as children as we are about 5 years apart in age. In later years, we became quite close, as we visited each other in Tacoma, Tucson, and even in Frankfurt, Germany! We kept in contact via email.
When Kas was stationed at the former Williams Air Force Base in Arizona, our family had the opportunity to attend Kas's (when she got her wings ....I don't remember what that was called). The fun part of that was when the high-ranking officer who presented Kas her wings realized that he had dated Nancy when he was at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs for his training. He said he recognized Nancy all those years later because she hadn't aged a bit!
When I was doing quite a bit of international traveling a few years ago, I would check with Nancy to see if it was possible that I could be on the same airline as Kas or Clay. Never happened, and although I used to think how it cool it would be if Kas or Clay was in the flight crew of my connecting flight, really it was a great excuse to call Nancy.
She was an incredible woman and I loved her dearly. I miss her so much, and I know that everyone who has known her misses her. My sympathies to Bob, her kids, and grandkids.
Love,
Ginny
