Nadine A. Sturgis' Obituary
Nadine Aydelotte Sturgis, age 99 of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away on Thursday January 26, 2017. She was born on March 10, 1917 in Pokomoke City, MD, daughter of the late Maurice Leon and Alma (Tarr) Aydelotte.
Nadine graduated from Pokomoke City High School and Goldey Beacom College. Upon graduating, she immediately began working for the DuPont Company in Wilmington, DE. On October 21, 1939, Nadine married the love of her life, J. Louis Sturgis, in Pokomoke City. She had a very active life, which included living in Caracas, Venezuela, and Manila, Phillipines. Nadine enjoyed worldwide travel and had the ability to make friends wherever she lived.
She was a member of the Rehoboth Beach Country Club, and for many years was active in the 9 Hole Ladies Golf Association. She enjoyed playing bridge at the club with many of her close friends. She was an avid gardener and a member of the Sussex Gardeners. Nadine was also a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Rehoboth Beach, where she served in a number of positions. An amazing and independent woman with a sharp mind and wit guided by her enduring faith, she was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Nadine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, J. Louis Sturgis. She is survived by her son Robert Sturgis and his wife Susan of Rehoboth Beach, DE; her daughter Ellen Bartels, of Leawood, KS; her many grandchildren; and her many great-grandchildren.
Services will be private.
