Myrtle E. Shockley's Obituary
Myrtle E. Shockley, 84 of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Harrison Senior Living in Georgetown, Delaware.
She was born on February 20, 1926 in Ellendale, Delaware, daughter of the late John Ennis and Ida Messick Ennis. She was the wife of the late Preston W. Shockley, Sr. who passed in 1995.
Mrs. Shockley was a member of the Ellendale United Methodist Church and attended the Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth Beach, DE. A life long Democrat she was very active for her party having served as a Delegate to the National Convention on three occasions; serving on the 10th and 37th District Committees; and as a former Sussex County Democratic District Chairperson. She was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose of Lewes, member of the Zwaanendael Club of Lewes, and a member of the National Federation of Business and Professional Womens' Club.
Surviving are son, Preston Shockley, Jr and wife Jackie of Lewes, DE; daughters, Myralon S. Webb of Harbeson, DE and Daisey Hudson and husband Terry of Rehoboth Beach, DE; grandchildren: Kelly Collins and husband Trent, Lisa Brittingham and husband Mark, Kristie Boyle and husband Bill, Tracy Stanganelli and husband Tony, Dusty Shockley and wife Ellen, and Thad Hudson and wife Judy; 11 great grandchildren; brothers: Elmer Ennis of Ellendale, DE and Howard Ennis of Salisbury, MD; and sister, Emma Givens of Milford, DE.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 15, 2010 at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 16961 Kings Highway Lewes, Delaware where friends may call beginning at 10:00 AM. Officiant will be the Rev. Dr. Jonathan Baker. Interment will be in Bethel Methodist Cemetery, Lewes, DE.
