Myers R. Johnson's Obituary
Myers R. Johnson, Sr., age 75, of Milton, DE, passed away Friday, December 26, 2008, at his residence. He was born March 1, 1933 in Wilmington, DE, son of the late Wesley Johnson, Sr. and Evelyn (Hayes) Johnson.
Mr. Johnson retired on disability from DuPont, Seaford Plant in 1973 after more than 20 years of service. He had served as a U.S. Marine Sergeant in the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post #6 in Seaford, DE. He was an avid fisherman and sports fan.
Mr. Johnson is survived by sons: Myers R. Johnson, Jr. of Delmar, MD and John Johnson and his wife Julie of Delmar, MD; two daughters: Suzette C. Donovan and her husband Eugene of Bridgeville, DE and Cheryl Batdorf of Seaford, DE; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Jane Riggin of Salisbury, MD; and brother, John Johnson of Seaford, DE. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Sherry German; two sisters: Elizabeth Hastings and Norma Hastings; and three brothers: Wesley Johnson, Bill Johnson, and Richard Johnson.
Committal Services with military honors will be held Friday, January 2, 2009, 11:00 A.M. at Delaware Veterans Cemetery Chapel, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE; Entombment will follow. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Bridgeville, DE.
