Muriel H. Mawyer's Obituary
Muriel H. Mawyer, age 89, of Rehoboth Beach, DE passed away on Friday, May 20, 2016 with her girls by her side at Renaissance Healthcare in Millsboro, DE. She was born on October 31, 1926 in Stuart, VA, daughter of the late Samuel and Lillian (Gunter) Handy.
Mrs. Mawyer worked for many years as a Customer Service Representative at Sears Prices Corner in Wilmington, DE. Together with her husband, Thurman, Mrs. Mawyer loved traveling especially making numerous trips to Florida. She also enjoyed accompanying her husband at various Masonic Shriner events and she was a long time member of the Village Improvement Association. Most importantly, Mrs. Mawyer adored her grandchildren whom she immensely loved spending time with.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mawyer was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Ellis Mawyer in September of 1996. She is survived by two daughters: Vickie D. Sloan and her husband, Maynard L., of Wilmington, DE and Carol Mawyer Fehrenbach and her husband, Michael, of Rehoboth Beach, DE; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016, at 11:00 AM, at Epworth United Methodist Church, 19285 Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971, where friends may call beginning at 10:00 am. Burial will follow services at Henlopen Memorial Park, 28787 Lockerman Road, Milton, DE.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Mawyer's memory to Epworth United Methodist Church, 19285 Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971 or the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 12502 Pine Drive, Tampa, FL 33612.
