Monica Lynn Lisle's Obituary
Monica Lynn Lisle, Captain, Alexandria Police Department (Ret.)
It is with deep sorrow and much love that the family of Monica Lynn Lisle announce her passing on August 24, 2025, at the age of 54, peacefully at her home in Rehoboth Beach DE.
Born on October 8, 1970, in East Liverpool, Ohio, Monica was the beloved daughter of Nancy Lisle and the late Fred Lisle of Orlando FL. She was a dedicated scholar, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from The Ohio State University before completing a Master’s in Education at the University of Pittsburgh.
Monica built a distinguished career spanning decades with the City of Alexandria, VA Police Department. She began her service as a patrol officer working midnights and steadily rose through the ranks—serving as Sergeant and Lieutenant—before retiring as a highly respected Captain. Monica was renowned for her fierce commitment to fairness, inclusion, and transparency. As one former supervisor noted, she was "tenacious with her beliefs," consistently standing firm on principle and holding both herself and others accountable. Not one to back down from a good fight, she was a consistent and passionate advocate for the marginalized.
Throughout her life, Monica called many places home, including Alexandria and Springfield, Virginia. However, her heart ultimately belonged to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, where she found her greatest peace and joy.
Monica’s memory will be cherished by her loving family: her mother, Nancy Lisle; her devoted wife, Donna Lisle; her children, Adam Baez (Sharlene Baez) and Olivia Seay (Hunter Seay); and her adored grandson, Enzo Baez. She is also survived by brother, Shawn Lisle (Wendy Lisle), her sister, Shantelle Rieves (Rick Rieves, and nieces and nephews, Connor, Noah and Grace Lisle; Addison and Hayden Rieves.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Delaware Hospice team for their compassion and support in her final days, as well as to her loyal and generous friends Ann, CB, Martha, and Tara, whose unwavering devotion was a comfort until the very end.
A memorial service will be held in Alexandria, Virginia, with a private celebration of life for friends and family to follow in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. She participated in Dewey Goes Pink 5K for years and her family is committed to continue that tradition. The Team name this year is “our Moe-tivation”.
