Miroslav "Miles" Martin Zich's Obituary
Miroslav “Miles” Zich, 88 of Bridgeville, Delaware, formally of Rockville, Maryland, passed away March 21, 2018. He was born on February 14, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois, son of the late, Mona and Martin Zich.
Miles graduated from Illinois Institute of Technology in 1951. He was an electrical engineer, employed/retired from NAVALEX in Crystal City, Virginia. He also served in the Army during the Korean War in the Signal Corps Group. He was an avid sports fan, golfer, gardener, bridge player and enjoyed dancing (polka’s especially!) and travel. He spoke fluent Czech and was extremely proud of his Czechoslovakian Heritage.
He was the beloved husband of 63 years of Gertrude “Trudi” (Gularski); loving father of Ronald (Pam) and Cynthia Jelinek (Wayne); proud and cherished Grandpa of 7: James, Thomas, Ronald, Wayne, Nicole, Troy, Daniel; he is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 532 Stein Highway, Seaford, DE where friends may visit beginning at 1:15 PM. Interment will be private.
Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made in Mile’s name to The American Cancer Society at P.O. Box 163, Salisbury, MD 21803, or to the American Diabetes Foundation at P.O. Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215.
The family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful staff at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital and Compassionate Care Hospice who with great respect and compassion cared for Miles in his final days.
