Minos Henry Shockley's Obituary
Minos Henry Shockley, age 83, of Seaford, DE, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford. He was born on February 14, 1931 in Parsonsburg, MD, son of the late James Cleveland and Daisy (Hayman) Shockley.
Mr. Shockley enjoyed a longtime career as an Appliance Technician with O. A. Newton & Son Appliance Company. He soon would strike out on his own opening an appliance repair shop locally.
Mr. Shockley's hobbies included NASCAR, bowling, go cart racing, stock car racing and listening to the Country Music Countdown. He also enjoyed hopping on his riding mower to visit his brother two doors down. Mr. Shockley enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was someone you could always count on.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Shockley was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Kaye Shockley; four sisters, Beulah Adkins, Nancy Massey, Lois Littleton, Flora Bratten and two brothers, Purnell and Roy Shockley. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Joan P. Shockley; two daughters, Althea Hastings and Vivian Shockley both of Seaford, DE; one brother, Billy Shockley, Sr. and his wife Janet of Seaford, DE; four grandchildren, Rebecca Willin; Joan Brown; Katina Shockley, Joshua Mears; four great-grandchildren, Timothy Spicer, Jr.; Brandon Spicer; Brittany Spicer and Tegan Shockley; his two beloved canine companions, Patrick and Diesel and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, February 2, 2015 at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 202 Laws Street, Bridgeville, DE 19933, where friends may call beginning at 10 AM. Interment will follow services at Bridgeville Cemetery, Market and Laws Streets, Bridgeville.
