Mildred B. Pusey's Obituary
Mildred B. Pusey, age 82, passed away peacefully at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Delaware on Sunday, December 4, 2011.
Mildred was born on March 5, 1929 in Bridgeville, Delaware to the late Harvey and Delema Short. She lived in Bridgeville her entire life before moving to Heritage Assisted Living in Milford in 2006. In addition to being a wonderful homemaker, she was employed at the Bridgeville Pharmacy for many years before being employed as a secretary and then treasurer for the town of Bridgeville, retiring after 25 years of service. She was truly a “people” person and loved the opportunity to get to know so many of the town residents through her job at town hall. Mildred was also a dedicated member of Union United Methodist Church in Bridgeville and always took pleasure in helping others.
Mildred was the beloved wife of the late Charles Pusey and the devoted mother of Gary Pusey of Bridgeville, and Lynn Wajda and husband Michael of Milton. She adored her grandchildren, Jennifer McPherson and husband Kevin, Colby Pusey and Megan Warrington, Lori Fowler and husband Craig, Ashley Ellingsworth and Brian Daube, and John Wajda and wife Amy. Nothing brought her more pleasure than being “GG” to her great-grandchildren Aubrey, Austin, Finn, Mitchell and Zachery.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mildred was predeceased by her sister Lucille Blanchard and brother Cleveland Short, son-in-law Phil Ellingsworth, and brothers-in-law: Ted Blanchard, Robert Smith Jr., Frank Waller, and Jennings Pusey.
She will be sadly missed by her sister Jeannette Smith, sisters-in-law: Beatrice Short, Josephine Waller, Doris Jane Conaway and husband Ronald, and Eleanor Pusey, as well as many nieces, nephews, her extended “family” at Heritage, and a multitude of friends.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Delaware Hospice Center for their compassionate care of Mildred during the last days of her life. A special thanks also goes out to the wonderful nurses and staff of Heritage who took such good care of her the past five years.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 12, at Union United Methodist Church, 2 North Laws Street, Bridgeville, with visitation from 9:00 -11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Bridgeville Cemetery. Arrangements by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Bridgeville.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in Mildred’s memory be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963 or to Union United Methodist Church, 2 N. Laws Street, Bridgeville, DE 19933.
