My Aunt Millie was awesome. I'll never forget all the things she taught me when I was growing up, about jewelry making, and about the different stones and minerals and how they're shaped and cut and refined to be put into a piece of jewelry. I wish I had a tumbler and all the tools and stuff - I'd spend all my time making all kinds of things, maybe take over for how Aunt Millie would make things for everyone for Christmas and their birthdays... Aunt Millie is the reason I'm fascinated with rocks and minerals, and why I know so much about them, and still find myself browsing the web, amazed at the beauty we've got under our feet, if we just took the time to expose what's hiding under the surface of so many things. I guess you could say she taught me to never judge a rock (or a person) by it's 'cover'. Aunt Millie is resting now, and at peace, and not struggling anymore. She made it to 90 (Jan 19th), so I guess we could say she lived a long, happy life. I'm sure she's up there watching over us, with my sister Julie and my Grandma and Grandpa and many loved ones we've lost way too soon. I'll be posting a photo soon. Rest easy, Aunt Millie. I love you. <3
